Safe Zone is a Windows NT-based automatic radar surveillance system designed specifically to protect offshore oil installations.

Safe Zone comprises four system elements:

A sophisticated and highly accurate automatic radar tracking system.
A satellite navigation and UHF transponder system.
A Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) system.
An electronic chart-based command and control system.

Safe Zone provides:

Automatic vessel traffic surveillance within a 25-mile zone.
Alarms when risk of collision exists between vessels and installations.
Rescue co-ordination and control for PLB equipped personnel in the water.
A Vessel Traffic Management and Information Service (VTMIS).
